Biography.

HYSTERIC HELEN is a Slovak post-punk/goth band founded in Bratislava in 2000 by DIRTY77 and CARLOS. Originally formed under the name HELPLINES, the project evolved through several lineup changes before adopting the name HYSTERIC HELEN in late 2003.

Influenced by the post-punk, gothic rock and new wave sounds of the 1980s, the band gradually developed its own distinctive blend of dark atmospheres, driving basslines and melodic tension. Their first official release, the promotional CD single "Latex Romance", appeared in 2004 and was followed by the EPs "Original Snuff Soundtrack" (2005) and "Unidentified Fetish Object" (2005).

Following their first live appearance in Bratislava in 2005, HYSTERIC HELEN quickly expanded beyond Slovakia, performing in Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany. During this period, the band shared stages with international and domestic acts such as Cinema Strange (US), Noblesse Oblige (D), Tragic Black (US), The Last Days Of Jesus (SK) and Golden Apes (D).

In 2012, vocalist and keyboard player Ms.Valentine officially joined the band after several years of collaboration. The following year, HYSTERIC HELEN released their debut full-length album through their own label, Hysteric Helen Records.

After a lengthy hiatus, founder DIRTY77 revived HYSTERIC HELEN in 2023 as a studio-based project, releasing the singles "Estrangement Of The Ordinary" and "The Junkie Family", both accompanied by official music videos. The latter also featured guest vocalist ANGIE on a special version of the track "No Sex With", a song that had previously only been performed live and remained unreleased for many years.

On July 1, 2025, HYSTERIC HELEN released their second full-length album, "Chapter Two", featuring ten new tracks and issued once again through Hysteric Helen Records. The album was followed by the single and video

"My Little Toy". The release attracted coverage from international music media, including Post-Punk.com, which praised the band's return and described the single as a confident continuation of HYSTERIC HELEN's distinctive sound.

Today, HYSTERIC HELEN continues under the direction of DIRTY77, with new live activities and performances currently in preparation.
